Hitler's War Record

The corrosion of the western character is defined by its unwillingness to honour a fallen foe. Its vicious talent for the falsification of its enemy's honour manifests itself numerous times in regard to Adolf Hitler but there are few so abhorrent as the libel denying his personal courage. Often the German Leader was described as being a 'scruffy draft-dodging coward fleeing from conscription yet whose character is such that he flings the world into a war that costs millions of lives'.

For the record here is an accurate account of the German leader's personal integrity and courage, especially relating to his military service during the First World War. It is my wish and hope that wherever this libel is repeated readers will draw on it to put the record straight.

"I FELL ON MY KNEES AND THANKED GOD!"
When the 1914-1918 war broke out, a war described by Field-Marshall Lord Allenby as 'a lengthy period of general insanity', the young Hitler, believing the war would set everything to right expressed himself thus: "For me it was a deliverance. I am not ashamed to say it today: I fell on my knees and thanked God.'

A VOLUNTEER, NOT A CONSCRIPT
Ordinarily Hitler need not have been destined for the armed forces as for many years he had been afflicted with tuberculosis. However on the 5th February 1914, months before war broke out and there being no necessity for him to take up arms in defence of his country he applied for military service and was turned away as 'Unfit for the army or auxiliary corps. Too weak. Rejected.'As passionate as always about the unification of German blood the landlord of his Munich lodgings, Herr Popp recalled the small plaque posted over his young lodger's bed. It read 'Freely with open heart we are waiting for you/Full of hope and ready for action/We are expecting you with joy/Great German Fatherland, we salute you'.

THE UNKNOWN STUDENT
Here he lived in perfect obscurity, happy to spend his none labouring hours absorbed in studying, reading, composing poetry, and of course sketching, drawing and painting. The address was 34 Schliesshimerstrasse. One of the interesting quirks of history is that at number 106 lived the equally unknown (and unknown to each other) Ilyitch Ulyanov (Lenin). Doing everything in his power to overturn this rejection, on the 3rd August 1914 Adolf Hitler sent a personal letter to the King of Bavaria begging him to be allowed to enlist as a volunteer. His plea was accepted and he joined the 6th battalion of the 2nd Bavarian Infantry Regiment. On 20th October 1914, during the German advance on France and confrontation with the equally belligerent 2,000,000 strong British army of the empire, Hitler in a letter to Frau Popp his landlady confessed: "I find it hard to contain my enthusiasm. How many times have I wished to test my strength and prove my national faith!"

FOUR YEARS ON FRONTLINE STRUGGLE
For four long years Hitler fought along the frontline trenches of the Western Front's most furiously contested battlefronts. These apocalyptic conflicts included the names of places still renowned for their valour and sheer scale of lives lost. All grace the colours of many a regiment. Yser, Ypres, Flanders, Neuve Chapelle, La Bassee, Arras, Artuis, Somme, Fromelles, Alsace Lorraine, Aillette, Montdidier, Soissons, Rheims, Oise, Marne, Champagne, Vosle, Monchy, Bapaume. During those terrible years the future leader of the German people displayed exemplary courage in a conflict that involved more than forty battles. He was wounded on 5th October 1916 and hospitalised for two months. Then he was back at the front until 15th October 1918 when he was hospitalised again, this time for gas poisoning. Throughout the course of the war he was cited for valour and distinguished conduct in the field. He was awarded the Iron Cross 2nd class on 2nd December 1914. He was also awarded the Bavarian Military Medal 3rd class with bar, and later the Iron Cross 1st class. He received, as did all wounded soldiers, the Cross of Military Merit,"

A MODEL OF COOLNESS AND COURAGE.
"Lieutenant Colonel Godin, in his official request that Hitler be awarded the Iron Cross 1st Class, stated: "He was a model of coolness and courage in both trench warfare and assault combat. He was always ready to volunteer for carrying messages in the most difficult and dangerous situations." On awarding this recognition Colonel Anton Tubeuf further stated: "He was always ready to help out in any situation, always volunteered for the most difficult and most arduous, and the most dangerous missions, and to risk his life and wellbeing for the Fatherland. On a human level, I felt closer to him than to any of the other men."

HITLER INSPIRED ALL OF HIS COMRADES
Of him World War One veteran Colonel Spatny, then in command of the 16th Regiment, was equally affirmative: "Hitler inspired all his comrades. His fearless courage and devotion to duty, particularly in combat impressed them. His qualifications, modesty, and his admirable sobriety earned him the greatest respect of his comrades and superiors alike."

HEROISM FULLY DOCUMENTED
Werner Maser, former head of the Institute of Contemporary History at the University of Munich, has written a large neutral biography called Hitler, Legend, Myth and Reality (Harper and Row, 1971). The objective record is clear: "Hitler's wartime record - campaigns, decorations, wounds, periods in hospital and on leave, is fully documented. In addition there is evidence to show that he was comradely, level headed and an unusually brave soldier, and that a number of his commanding officers singled him out for special mention. And in 1922, at a time when Hitler was still unknown, General Friedrich Petz summarised the High Command's appreciation of the gallant and self-effacing corporal as follows: Hitler was quick in mind and body and had great powers of endurance. His most remarkable qualities were his personal courage and daring which enabled him to face any combat or perilous situation whatsoever."

HITLER’S ENEMIES RESPECT HIM
Even those historians least favourably disposed towards Adolf Hitler, such as Joachim Fest, conceded that 'Hitler was a courageous and efficient soldier and was always a good comrade."The same historian noted: "The courage and the composure with which he faced the most deadly fire made him seem invulnerable to his comrades. As long as Hitler is near us, nothing will happen to us, they kept repeating. It appears that made a deep impression on Hitler and reinforced his belief that he had been charged with a special mission."John Toland, another respected but hardly revisionist historian wrote: "In the course of the preceding months he had escaped death on innumerable occasions. It was as though he had been wearing a good luck charm."

THE NEAR CAPTURE OF THE FRENCH PREMIER
The noted French historian, Raymond Cartier ruefully mused that "Corporal Hitler was in all probability one of the German soldiers who got closest to Paris in 1918." In another of history's ironies Adolf Hitler was one of a patrol that nearly captured the French Premier Clemenceau, but that is another story. The times that Hitler cheated death became a legend that has baffled historians ever since. Typically in one corner of conflict the troops of List Regiment were held down in shell craters, the trenches having already been destroyed, among the ruins of a village called Le Barque. Of the nine regimental couriers seven had just been killed. In the command post, such as it was, there were ten officers and two couriers. Suddenly a British bomb exploded at the entrance to the refuge. There was just one survivor, Adolf Hitler. During his years at the front, as many pictures testify, Adolf Hitler far from being a loner was very comradely. Ever his own man his daily routines were characterised by civility. He never was known for embracing trench crudities or brothel humour, and was generous to a fault. Yet despite having a personality that usually draws disdain the soldier Adolf Hitler was highly respected by his comrades.

THE TIRELESS SOCIALIST
Even Sebastian Haffner, a Jewish writer and fanatical Hitler hater, was forced to admit "Hitler had a fierce courage unmatched by anyone at the time or since." Another Jew by the name of Karl Hanisch, who shared lodgings with Hitler, recalled him as 'a pleasant and likeable man who took an interest in the welfare of all his companions.'He late recalled that his fellow lodger "was neither proud nor arrogant, and he was always available and willing to help. If someone needed fifty hellers to pay for another night's lodging, Hitler would always give whatever he had in his pocket without another thought. On several occasions I personally saw him take the initiative and pass the hat for such a collection."Hitler's war heroism is a matter of record and it was only when he entered politics, in a bid to stem his rising popularity, that is was ever questioned. Typically however detractors were forced to recant and pay damages. Historians have noted that Adolf Hitler was born poor and died poor. In fact he was the only statesman who never had a bank account.

The Triumph of Christianity

When the allied military war against Germany, Finland, Bulgaria, Rumania, Italy and Japan ended the destruction of their fallen peoples, and other Europeans, continued by other means. As always it is accompanied by crude propaganda. This continues as the allies, marching to Israel's baton-wielding lobby, decimate Europe’s peoples through race-mixing, abortion, the promotion of homosexuality, wars for Israel’s and oil interests; and the systematic destruction of the continent’s race pride and sense of history. Everything is promoted - except the White European Race and its achievements. It was against such monstrous genocide that the Austrian born leader of scores of millions within and beyond Germany fought. It was his love not only for his own German people but for European civilisation as a whole that Adolf Hitler opined: "As a Christian I have no duty to allow myself to be cheated, but I have the duty to be a fighter for truth and justice. And as a man I have the duty to see to it that human society does not suffer the same catastrophic collapse as did the civilisation of the ancient world some two thousand years ago - a civilisation which was driven to its ruin through the same Jewish people."

An important plank in the present day one-sided war of propaganda (brain washing) is the depiction of National Socialism as being anti-Christian and it being of a cult nature. Nothing could be further from the truth. Adolf Hitler was of course scathing of what Christianity had become then and still is today. He observed: "It is a tragedy of the Germanic world that Jesus was judaised, distorted, falsified; and an alien Asiatic spirit was forced upon us. That is a crime we must repair."

NAZI GERMANY, THE MOST CHRISTIAN OF ALL
But to the true ideals of Christianity, not to be confused with the current travesty of it, Nazi Germany was certainly the most Christian nation in European history. Germany in the 1930s was a Christian nation of which more than 46 million belong to the German Evangelical (Protestant) Church and thirty million to the Roman Catholic Faith. Adolf Hitler was always acutely aware of his nation's deep rooted spiritual beliefs and in Mein Kampf wrote, "Our task is to harness the God-given energy of this German nation to stand firm for the Truth." Born on April 20 1889 in Braunau (on the River Inn), an idyllic rural village which straddles the German-Austrian frontier, he was the third son of Alois and Klara Hitler. He was baptised in the local church. In his major work, Mein Kampf, the Holy Bible is quoted no less than five hundred times.
His own profound belief in the Almight's resistance against Jewish power is summed up by his statement: "I would like here to appeal to a greater than I, Count Lerchenfeld. He said in the last session of the Landtag that his feeling 'as a man and a Christian prevented him from being an anti-Semite'.

I say: my feelings as a Christian points me to the Lord and Saviour as a fighter. It points me to a man who once in loneliness, surrounded only be a few followers, recognised these Jews for what they were and summoned men to fight against them and who, God's truth! was greatest not as a sufferer but as a fighter. In boundless love as a Christian and a man I read through the passage which tells us how the Lord at last rose in his might and seized the scourge to drive out of the Temple the brood of vipers and adders. How terrific was his fight for the world against the Jewish poison.

Today, after two thousand years, with deepest emotion I recognise more profoundly than ever before in the fact that it was for this that He had to shed His blood upon the Cross."
Within a year of his election, in January 1934 during his New Year's message to the German people their increasingly popular national leader said: " . . . we have not only brought thousands of priests back into the Church, but to millions of respectable people we have restored their faith in their religion and in their priests."

OFFICIAL GERMAN GOVERNMENT POLICY
"The German Government, which regards Christianity as the unshakeable foundation of the ethical life of the German nation, attaches the greatest importance to the maintenance and development of friendly relations with the Holy See."
"The national government regards the two Christian confessions as the most important factors of the maintenance of our ethical personality."
"The Party as such advocates a positive Christianity without binding itself to any particular church." 24th Point, Government's Program.
"The Government will adopt a just and objective attitude towards all other religions."

CRITICS ROUNDED UPON
"Amongst the accusations directed against Germany in the so-called democracies is the charge that the National Socialist State is hostile to religion. In answer to that charge I should like to make before the German people the solemn declaration:

1. "No one in Germany has in the past been persecuted because of his religious views, nor will anyone in the future be so persecuted.

2. "The National Socialist State since 30th January 1933, from public moneys derived from taxation through the organs of the State, has placed at the disposal of both Churches the following sums (1,800,000,000 Reichsmark). Hitler went on to detail the enormous riches pouring into the German Churches making them by far the most prosperous in Europe, and pointed out to that in separating the Church from the State he was only following the lead of France, America and other countries.

3. "The National Socialist State has not closed a church, nor has it prevented the holding of a religious service, nor has it ever exercised any influence upon the form of a religious service . . .

GOD BE THANKED
"In this hour I pray that the Almighty will give His blessing in the years to come to our labours, to our judgement and to our strength of resolution, that He may guard us from all false pride as from all cowardly submission, that He will let us find the right path, which He in his Providence has allotted to the German people, and that He gives us always the courage to do right and never to waver or weaken before any force or danger.” - 5th Anniversary of the National Socialist Government

RUDOLF HESS, DEPUTY FUHRER
"He countered atheistic blasphemy with the idea of an Almighty Being."Rudolf Hess spoke for his nation when he said: "Was it an accident that Hitler came? I do not think so. I believe that a Providence watches over the nations and that when a task is to be fulfilled in the world, this Providence sends the right man at the right time to fulfil and thus save the nation from downfall."

In respect for those not sharing Christian beliefs he was equally forthright. "No National Socialist shall be allowed to suffer because he does not subscribe to a certain religion or because he ascribes to no religion at all. Belief is a matter for each one to resolve in the light of his own conscience. Compulsion must not be exercised." He added, "National Socialism would have every German decide for himself on spiritual questions, just as in the days of Frederick the Great. The National Socialist state gives to the church what belongs to the church, and to the state what belongs to the state."

How interesting and observant of him that on the 21 May 1935 Adolf Hitler could say: " . . . we never want to see a lack of religion and faith and do not want our churches turned into clubrooms and cinemas." Does that not precisely sum up the most casual tour of any locality in England and Europe today? We even see former churches turned into cash and carry wholesalers of which the proprietors are Jewish or Muslim. Other churches have been turned into mosques!

THE DEPUTY GERMANY LEADER
Rudolf Hess: "The Protestant world is still under German leadership. There is no foundation for the fear, voiced abroad, that Germany will forsake the Protestant world. The Protestant may remain Protestant and the Catholic Catholic, and he who is neither and nevertheless owns Christ, may also remain what he is."Hanns Kerrl. German Minister for German Affairs agreed: "Adolf Hitler gave us back our faith. He showed us the true meaning of religion. He has come to renew for us the faith of our fathers and to make us new and better beings.... just as Jesus Christ made his twelve apostles into a faithful band to the martyr's death whose faith shook the Roman Empire, so now we witness the same spectacle again. Adolf Hitler is the true Holy Ghost." And The German Faith Movement added, "I believe in the Holy German people inside and outside the German frontiers. I believe in Adolf Hitler, who by the grace of God was sent to give the German people faith in themselves once more."

OF THE PRIESTHOOD
Of the priesthood at Koblenz on 26th August 1934 Adolf Hitler was unstinting in his support. "I know there are thousands and tens of thousands of priests who are not merely reconciled to the State today but who gladly give to the State their co-operation, and I am convinced that this co-operation will grow ever closer and more intimate. For their interests cannot fail to coincide with ours alike in our fight against the symptoms of degeneracy in the world today, in our fight against a Bolshevist culture, against an atheistic movement, against criminality, and in our struggle for a consciousness of a community in our national life, for the conquest of hatred and disunion between the classes, for the conquest of civil war and unrest, of strife and discord.
These are not anti-Christian, these are Christian principles! And I believe that if we should fail to follow these principles, then we should not be able to point to our successes, for the result of our political battle is surely not unblest by God."

AND OF FALSE PROPHETS
The German Leader however wasn't blind to the infamy of the charlatan priesthood and was aware that some priests subverted their religious calling by diverting their teaching from spiritual need to political and social statements: "Undoubtedly there have always been unscrupulous rogues who did not hesitate to degrade religion to the base use of politics. Nearly always such people had nothing else in their minds except to make a business of religions and politics. But on the other hand it would be wrong to hold religion itself, or a religious denomination, responsible for a number of rascals who exploit the Church for their own base interests just as they would exploit anything else in which they had a part."

In Mein Kampf he wrote with clarity: " . . . it would be wrong to make religion, or the Church as such, responsible for the misdeeds of individuals. . . but for each of these unworthy specimens we can find a thousand or more who fulfil their mission nobly as the trustworthy guardians of souls and who tower above the level of the corrupt epoch, as little islands above the sea-swamp."

THE CHURCH'S FIRST DUTY
Hitler's endorsement of the teaching of Christ often brought him into conflict with the Church. His main charge against the Church's influential hijackers was summed up by his surmising that they had 'sinned against the likeness of the Lord in ignoring race and the purity of the blood of the nation. Instead of plaguing Hottentots and Kaffirs with missions which they neither desire nor understand, the Churches have a work to do at home to save their own people from a bodily and moral leprosy."

TYPICAL PRONOUNCEMENTS BY ADOLF HITLER
"The Aryan stands firm, One with God in his attitude to the world and its people." - Adolf Hitler"We wish to fill our culture once more with the spirit of Christianity - but not only in theory." / "And so I believe today that my conduct is in accordance with the will of the Almighty Creator. In standing guard against the Jew I am defending the handiwork of the Lord."

"To a political leader the religious teachings and practices of his people should be sacred and inviolable. Otherwise he should not be a statesman but a reformer, if he has the necessary qualifications for such a mission. Any other line of conduct will lead to disaster, especially in Germany."

"It is a tragedy of the Germanic world that Jesus was judaised, distorted, falsified; and an alien Asiatic spirit was forced upon us. That is a crime we must repair." / "In this hour I would ask of the Lord God only this: that, as in the past, so in the years to come He would give His blessing to our work and our action, to our judgement and our resolution, that He will safeguard us from all false pride and from all cowardly servility, that He may grant to us to find the straight path which His Providence has ordained for the German people, and that He may ever give us the courage to do the right, never to falter, never to yield before any violence, before any danger."
Hitler’s enemies never missed an opportunity in their attempts to undermine his authority, his popularity, and the Fuhrer's undoubted ability to win the hearts of true Christians throughout the Aryan diaspora. His response as always was Christian and spirited.

In Stuttgart on the 15th February, shortly after his electoral victory, in a barbed attack against the pro-Marxist Catholic Centre Party (Centrum) he said: "And now Staatsprasident Bolz says that Christianity and the Catholic faith are threatened by us. And to that charge I can answer: In the first place it is Christians and not international atheists who now stand at the head of Germany. I do not merely talk of Christianity, no, I also profess that I will never ally myself with the parties which destroy Christianity. If many wish today to take threatened Christianity under their protection, Where, I would ask, was Christianity for them in these fourteen years when they went arm in arm with atheism . . . sat with those who denied God in one and the same Government?" - Stuttgart, 15th February 1933

GOD NEVER ABANDONED ANY MAN
"When folk have set before them a true purpose and then pursue it unmoved with bravery and courage, when they withstand with a strong heart every trial which Heaven sends upon them, then one day at the last Almighty Providence will yet grant them the fruits of their struggle and of their sacrifices. For God has never abandoned any man upon this earth unless he has first abandoned himself."

In a lesson that might be applied to Northern Ireland's misguided 'Christians' the Fuhrer had a simple message: Convinced that the common struggle being waged against the common destroyer of Aryan humanity he called for Catholic and Protestant mutual respect and mutual esteem. "In the ranks of our Movement the most loyal Catholic must be able to sit side by side with the most loyal Protestant without either of them having to suffer the smallest conflict of conscience with his religious convictions."

Of inter-faith rivalry the Fuhrer deplored the confessions for their looking on unconcerned at the desecration and destruction of a noble and unique creature (Aryan man) which by God's grace had been given to earth. He added "For the future of the earth it is of no significance whether the Protestants conquer the Catholics or the Catholics the Protestants: the only significance consists in the question whether Aryan man is preserved or whether he dies out. And yet both Churches today do not fight against the destroyer of Aryan man but mutually seek to annihilate each other."

WITH GOD'S HELP…..
"If Providence had not guided us I would often never have found these dizzy paths. Thus it is that we National Socialists have in the depths of our hearts our faith. No man can fashion world history or the history of peoples unless upon his purpose and his powers there rests the blessing of this Providence."

"I believe that this was God's Will - to send a boy into the Reich, to let him become its Leader, in order to bring his home country into the Reich. Otherwise one must doubt Providence." / "Help thyself, then thou wilt also have the help of the Almighty."

CHRISTIAN CHARITY
During the Winter Help Campaign during October 1937, the German Leader was demonstrative in his tireless campaigning for the have-nots: "This Winter Help Work is also in the deepest sense a Christian work. When I see, as I so often do, poorly clad girls collecting with such infinite patience in order to care for those who are suffering from the cold while they themselves are shivering with cold, then I have the feeling that they are all Apostles of a Christianity - and in truth of a Christianity which can say with greater right than any other: This is the Christianity of an honest confession (church), for behind it stands not words but deeds."

NATIONAL SOCIALISM ANTI-CULT
Only on the matter of cultish beliefs was the Fuhrer less than complimentary: At Nuremberg on 6th September 1938 he made his views absolutely clear: "National Socialism is a cool-headed doctrine of realities; it mirrors clearly scientific knowledge and its expression in thought. Since we have won the heart of our people for this doctrine we do not wish to fill their minds with a mysticism which lies outside of that doctrine's goal and purpose.

National Socialism is not a cult-movement - a movement for worship; it is exclusively a 'volkic' political doctrine based upon racial principles. In its purpose there is no mystic cult, only the care and leadership of a people defined by a common blood-relationship. Therefore we have no rooms for worship but only halls for the people - no open spaces for worship but spaces for assemblies and parades. We have no religious retreats, but arenas for sports and playing-fields, and the characteristic feature of our places of assembly is not the mystical gloom of a cathedral but the brightness and light of a room or hall which combines beauty with fitness for its purpose. In these halls no acts of worship are celebrated, they are exclusively devoted to gatherings of the people of the kind which we have come to know in the course of our long struggle.

In a clear and unambiguous warning to cultists who then as now tried to hijack the National Socialist movement the Fuhrer was pointed in his response: "We will not allow mystically-minded occult folk with a passion for exploring the secrets of the world beyond to steal into our Movement. Such folk are not National Socialists but something else - in any case something which has nothing to do with us. . . . Our worship is exclusively the cultivation of the natural, and for that reason, because natural, therefore God-willed. Our humility is the unconditional submission before the divine laws of existence so far as they are know to us men: it is to these we pay our respect."

TYPICAL OPINIONS VOICED BY FOREIGNERS
Adolf Hitler always declared, "First I believe in Almighty God." and, "And, I solemnly declare that Almighty God has chosen me for this task." - James Larratt Battersby. German World Church in Europe.

DAVID LLOYD GEORGE
"Catholic and Protestant, Prussian and Bavarian, employer and workman, rich and poor, have been consolidated into one people. Religious, provincial and class origins no longer divide the nation. There is a passion for unity born of dire necessity.

"The tolerance shown towards the agnostic and anti-Christian confessions is also extended to Jewish religious activities in Germany. I have already attempted to make it quite clear that the special treatment meted out to Jews in Germany is inspired solely by racial and not be religious motives. The Jews enjoy full liberty in the exercise of the ritual." - Cesare Santoro.

Hitler Germany Seen by a Foreigner
"At last the German Christians feel that the Almighty has done something. If only the immense spiritual forces in the new Germany can be harnessed in the service of Christianity the new mission of which the Germans are profoundly conscious will be a Christian one." / "This is what I learned from my Jewish friends, who are staying in Germany and have no intention of leaving the country, nor have they ever been asked to leave the country. Those who wish to leave and return may do so at their own pleasure. The law relating to the freedom of Jews are substantially the same as those of other people." - H. Powys-Greenwood.

Hitler's First Year
"As far as I am aware there is not a single incident in which the so-called anti-Christian Nazis murdered a single priest." - Dr. Austin J. App. Historian. University of Philadelphia. Historian.

JEWISH OPINION OF RELIGION IN THE THIRD REICH: ".... in that the Third Reich treated Christianised Jews preferentially. The National Socialist Third Reich carefully distinguished between Talmudic and Christianised Jews." - Philip Freedman, 'Their Brothers Keepers' N.Y 1957.

AMERICAN DOUBLE STANDARDS "The United States took exception to a German law on March 30th 1938, which removed the Jewish church from the established German church roll which deprived it of state funds. In fact, this brought German law into line with English Law." - Daniel L. Hoggan. Historical Revisionist.

ILLUSTRATIVE LAST WILL AND TESTAMENTS
JOSEPH GOEBBELS: "Do not let yourself be confused by the uproar that will now reign throughout the world. The lies will one day break down under their own weight and the truth will again triumph. The hour will come when we shall stand pure and undefiled as our aims and beliefs have always been." Joseph Goebbels last letter to his stepson.

MAGDA GOEBBELS: "Therefore, I have also brought the children here with me. They are too precious for the life that will come after us; a merciful God will understand me when I myself help them to a merciful deliverance." Madga Goebbels final letter to her son.

RUDOLF HESS: "Whatever the verdict of this court I shall be held innocent before the Judgement Seat of Christ."

ALFRED ROSENBERG: "Crimes against Christianity? Did you ever pay any attention to the Russian crimes against Christianity? The Russians have the nerve to sit in judgement, with thirty million lives on their conscience? Why! They are the world's experts. They killed priests by the thousands during their revolution.

FIELD MARSHAL KEITEL: "I call on the Almighty. May He have mercy on the German people and show them tenderness."

"National Socialism is essentially a religious movement and faith. The Germanic or Aryan world of ideas, both political and religious will go out as a sacred Gospel to heal mankind.” - Adolf Hitler, Last Will and Testament

Requiem for Adolf Hitler

Napoleon Bonaparte and Adolf Hitler had much in common. The first was Italian yet he liberated and led the French nation. The latter was of Austrian birth but freed and championed the German people. Napoleon put an end to French revolutionary abuses. Adolf Hitler brought an end to the corruption and cruel deprivation following the ruinous victors terms inflicted upon Germany after World War One. Both had humble origins, revolutionary zeal, courage beyond question, a rags to wreath military prowess. The multitudes adored them whilst the privileged classes with vested interests trembled before them. After their defeat in battle both Napoleon and Hitler were ludicrously vilified and demonised by the allied victors.

GREAT LEADERS DESERVE BETTER
Neither of these iconic figures had a requiem or funeral march composed in their honour. It is true to say that when Ludwig Beethoven was asked if he might be inspired to write a funeral march for Napoleon Bonaparte, he gruffly replied: “I have already composed the proper music for that catastrophe.” He was referring to the funeral march second movement of his Eroica (Heroic) 3rd Symphony. The honour was removed when upon hearing that Napoleon was to crown himself emperor, the gifted composer and pianist furiously scratched the name ‘Bonaparte’ from the symphony’s title page. Napoleon was greatly admired by Adolf Hitler; upon the surrender of Paris he forbade the triumphant playing of the Paris Entry March. During his visit to The City of Light the German Leader paid homage at the Napoleonic Tomb. The two great leaders did however part company when it came to personal aggrandisement. It is inconceivable that the Fuhrer would crown himself emperor.

WAS HITLER SIEGFRIED?
Hitler was enthused by Richard Wagner’s works. Those familiar with the composer’s operatic sagas and the Fuhrer’s life will be fascinated by the parallels drawn from the stories of these heroes of Germanic folk lore. Were these early manifestations translated through Wagner to be re-born through Hitler? The Ring of the Nibelungen recounts the struggle between the Forces of Light; Wotan, Brunhilde, Siegfried and Sigmunde against the bacillus of evil and darkness. These are the Nibelungen, swarthy misshapen dwarves who dwell out of sight and steal the Rheingold (Germany’s wealth).

A QUIRK OF HISTORY
In another quirk of Hitler history Der lied der Nibelungen is said to have been composed in the evocative Kurnberg Castle set on the Danube Plain. Its imposing edifice is situated just a short country walk from Adolf Hitler‘s childhood rural home and not far from the grave of his parents. As a schoolboy the future Fuhrer walked in its shadows with his schoolbooks and pencils. Had Richard Wagner been asked if he was inspired to compose a funeral march for Adolf Hitler, who can doubt he would have immediately replied: “I have already done so: Siegfried’s Death and Funeral March.”

TEARS OF INSPIRATION
It is doubtful if a more fitting funeral tribute could be found for the former German revolutionary and statesman. Having said that we do know that the Wagnerian opera, Rienzi, The Last of the Tribunes, brought a youthful Adolf Hitler to tears of inspiration. Little wonder that this wonderful and inspirational opera is airbrushed out of modern operatic events. Amazingly composed fifty years before the Fuhrer was born it maps out the Fuhrer’s life and ’death’ in ways that can only be described as being of supernatural mystery. Thus also a most fitting operatic tribute to Adolf Hitler.

NOTE: If you go to Amazon you will find no shortage of excellent Wagnerian operatic DVDs and CDs. For the orchestral music alone I recommend Wagner: Orchestral Music from the Ring.

German Army Honour

BORN OF PROPAGANDA: "It must be brought home to the American people that much of what they have been led to believe was born of propaganda. That the Germany Army, for example, actually behaved itself very correctly toward the people of occupied territories whose governments were signatories to the Hague and Geneva Conventions. The facts are now well known, and are beyond dispute, despite the opposite picture painted in the Press as part of the horrendous business of war." - Ralph Franklin Keeling, Institute of American Economics, Chicago, 1970

THE MOST CORRECT IN THE HISTORY OF WARFARE: "In their behaviour toward the women of conquered territories, the German troops seem actually to have been the most correct and decent in the whole history of warfare It is a well known fact that rape was virtually unheard of in the German Armed Forces and was in fact punishable by death." - Dr. A.J. App. Ph.D

WILLIAM SHIRER hardly a Nazi sympathiser, in his Berlin Diary, reported how on June, 17th, 1940, in the first flush of German occupation women had fled Paris in fear of the Germans. 'It seems the Parisians actually believed the Germans would rape the women and do worse to the men. The ones who stayed are all the more amazed at the very correct behaviour of the troops"

UNCOMMONLY CHRISTIAN: Frederick C. Crawford, President of Thompson Products, on January, 4th, 1945, in 'A Report From the War Front' resulting from an inspection tour taken along with others and organised by the War Department, said: "After four years of German occupation,... The Germans tried to be careful in their dealings with the people. We were told that if a citizen attended strictly to business and took no political or underground action against the occupying army, he was treated with correctness. (p.5) In short, wherever Americans have been able to investigate for themselves, they have found that however ruthless the Germans were with resisters and saboteurs, they were uncommonly Christian and decent towards the women of the conquered."

THE CHANNEL ISLANDS "The German behaviour was correct; that they were quite amiably received by most people; there was no real sabotage and no real resistance movement. That as long as there was food, the civilians had their fair share and the conditions for the islanders were a good deal better than it was for the Wehrmacht in May, 1945." - Charles Cruickshank, Oxford University Press.

RESPECT FOR THE CHURCH: "As far as I am aware, there is not a single incident in which the so-called anti-Christian Nazis, murdered a priest." - Dr. A.J App. Ph.D

ANGELS COMPARED WITH BRITAIN'S ALLIES: "The Germans were angels compared to the Communists. Persecuted Christians came out of hiding. My father who had been arrested was released by the Germans. He came home with his hands raw. The Communists had tortured him by plunging his hands into boiling water until his skin came off like gloves." - Zite Kaulius, The Advocate, Newark, April, 1964

GERMAN ARMED FORCES HONOURABLE SAY MILITARY VICTORS NOT WAR CRIMINALS: "Very few German officers committed actions by their own free will during World War 11 of such a nature that they, because of such actions, could be regarded as war criminals." - Major General H. Bratt, Royal Swedish Army.

"The American admirals were courageous. They defended their German counterparts and saved their lives. Why didn't the generals of the ground armies do as much? They behaved contemptibly, because I don't think that the German ground armies committed any crimes." - General of the Army, Lionel-Max Chassin. Assistant Chief of Staff, French Army

"During my period of Command in the Middle East and Mediterranean Theatres, there were no breaches of International Maritime Law by the Axis Powers reported to me. My own feelings on that matter were that those who had committed War Crimes should have been dealt with by Military Courts after the Armistice and that the Nuremberg Trials were staged as a political stunt." - Field Marshall Lord Henry Maitland Wilson of Libya. Commander-in-Chief, Middle East, 1943. Supreme Allied Commander, Mediterranean Theatre, 1944 ˆ

ADMIRAL KARL DOENITZ FOUGHT HONOURABLE WAR: ".... for I have never heard of any illegal or barbarous act committed under his (Admiral Karl Doenitz) orders. I feel strongly that sailors, soldiers and airmen whose only 'crime' is the effective professional direction of the forces under their command, should not be liable to such trials." - Major General Sir William L.O Twiss, K.C.I.E., C.B., C.B.E., M.C., F.R.G.S. General Officer Commanding, British Army in Burma

NO (GERMAN) ATROCITY PROBLEM: "My service during World War 11 was in command of an armored division throughout the European campaign, from Normandy to Saxony... my division lost quite a number of officers and men captured between July 1944 and April 1945. In no instance did I hear of personnel from our division receiving treatment other than proper under the 'Rules of Land Warfare'. As far as the 6th Armored Division was concerned in its 280 days of front line contact, there was no 'atrocity problem'.... Frankly, I was aghast, as were many of my contemporaries, when we learned of the proposed 'war crimes' trials and the fact that military commanders were among the accused.... I know of no general officer who approved of them." - Major General Robert W. Grow, U.S.A. Commander 6th Armored Division in Europe.

THERE WAS AN ALLIED ATROCITY PROBLEM: "We shot prisoners in cold blood, wiped out hospitals, lifeboats, killed or mistreated enemy civilians, finished off enemy wounded, tossed the dying into a hole with the dead, and in the Pacific boiled the flesh of enemy skulls to make table ornaments for sweethearts, or carved their bones into letter openers. We topped off our saturation bombing and burning of enemy civilians by dropping atomic bombs on two nearly defenceless cities, thereby setting an all time record for instantaneous mass slaughter."As victors we are privileged to try our defeated opponents for their crimes against humanity; but we should be realistic enough to appreciate that if we were on trial for breaking international laws, we should be found guilty on a dozen counts.

We fought a dishonourable war, because morality has a low priority in battle....".... I have asked fighting men for instance, why they - or actual we - regulated flame-throwers in such a way that enemy soldiers were set afire, to die slowly and painfully, rather than be killed outright by a full blast of burning oil. Was it because they hated the enemy so thoroughly? The answer was invariably, 'No, we don't hate those poor bastards particularly; we just hate the whole goddam mess and have to take it out on somebody.

Possibly for the same reason we mutilated the bodies of the enemy dead, cutting off their ears and kicking out their gold teeth for souvenirs, and buried them with their testicles in their mouths, but such flagrant violations of all moral codes reach into still unexplored realms of battle psychology." - Edgar L. Jones, U.S Second World War veteran. Atlantic Monthly, February, 1946

GERMAN TREATMENT OF PRISONERS-OF-WAR: "All of the ex-prisoners-of-war seemed to me to be surprisingly well fed. Faces showed the signs of years of captivity; there was no doubt about that. But I did not see the signs of starvation that I expected after reading the accounts of the way these people have been treated." - The Wartime Journals of Charles A. Lindbergh.

"The code of German officers does not differ from our own in any important way as far as I can see." - Major General Churchill Mann, C.B.E., D.S.O., C.D. Royal Canadian Army

"I can vouch that during the five years of fighting of our Fleet, mostly attached to the British Fleet, I never heard any complaint of atrocities in submarine warfare." - Vice Admiral Epaminondas P. Cawadias, Royal Hellenic Navy.

RESPECTED THE RED CROSS: "The most amazing thing about the atrocities in this war is that there have been so few of them. I have come up against few instances where the Germans have not treated prisoners according to the rules, and respected the Red Cross." - Cf. The Progressive, February, 4th,1945. London Express, Allan Wood, War Correspondent.

OBEYED THE CONVENTION: "The Germans even in their greatest moments of despair obeyed the Convention in most respects. True it is that there were front line atrocities - passions run high up there - but they were incidents, not practices, and maladministration of their American prison camps was very uncommon." - Lieutenant Newton L. Marguiles. U.S Assistant Judge Advocate, Jefferson Barracks, April, 27th,1945.

TREATMENT OF FOREIGN WORKERS:
"It is true that the Reich exacted forced labour from foreign workers, but it is also true that, they were for the most part paid and fed well." - Ralph F. Keeling, Gruesome Harvest, American Institute of Economics.

“I think some of the persons found themselves better off than at any time in their lives before." - Dr.James K.Pollack, AMG.

"What did the Germans do to get efficient production from forced labour that we were not able to do with Germans working down the mines? They fed their help and fed them well." - Max H. Forester, Chief of AMG's Coal and Mining Division, July, 1945.

. . . AND EDUCATED THEM TOO: "When the Second World War broke out in 1939, he (Lord Mulley) joined the Army, attaining the rank of lance-sergeant before being captured at Dunkirk in 1940. He spent the next five years in prisoner-of-war camps in Poland, East Prussia and Bavaria, using the time to pass examinations in a number of subjects, including economics and banking." - The Times, 16th March 1995 obituary on Lord Mulley, former Cabinet Minister.

“The warmongering faction has to get its citizens mad at the enemy, and in the proper mood. It has to get its citizens to think they are fighting for the world’s good, and for Christian or other religious righteousness, and the enemy is evil and ruled by the devil. So it was with the propaganda against Hitler and Germany, and so it has been ever since.” – Alex S. Perry Jnr. The Barnes Review, Vol. No.1.

Alexander Lukashenko

Not the Last of Yesterday but the First of Tomorrow
How well these words ring true. Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko celebrates 10 years in power on 10 July. He has come in for criticism at home and abroad for his ‘authoritarian rule and record on human rights‘; very much as Adolf Hitler was. The then legitimate and democratically elected German leader always effectively exposed the double standards, the lies, and the subversive methods of his critics.

Reading his words you will be forgiven for thinking that the elected President of Belorussia, occupied by the Germans for much of the war, is a chip off the old block. He has said much in admiration of the Third Reich and has adopted many of its methods to bring peace, prosperity and security to his country. Damnable huh. Judge him by his words? Yes, do so.

President Lukashenko: in quotes
The history of Germany is a copy of the history of Belarus. Germany was raised from the ruins thanks to firm authority, and not everything connected with that well known figure, Adolf Hitler, was bad. German order evolved over the centuries and under Hitler it attained its peak.
Russian NTV television, November 1995.

In my view this is not democracy, but a zoo [Mr Lukashenko is responding to his chilly reception at the European economic forum in Crans Montana in 1998]... It was exactly what we expected, but not on that scale nor in that form. In a word, it was nothing but a zoo, you can't put it better.
Belarusian television, June 1998

I regard [Yugoslav leader Slobodan] Milosevic as a legally elected president... He was elected by his people. It is a friendly state. And if Milosevic needs help and support, we will always give him this support. But I don't think that it will go that far. The West has declared many people criminal, all those who disagreed with it were declared criminals by democracy. So were we.
Belarusian TV, June 1999

What human rights can you talk about after Yugoslavia? I don't mean to offend the West, I'm just using this subject to illustrate my point. What kind of human rights issues, what kind of US interests are there in the Balkans?... Why did they bomb the country, causing millions of dollars in damage? What kind of rights can you talk about? And now they start lecturing Russia. This is absurd... this is an internal affair.
Belarusian radio, April 2000

Clinton's decision [to suspend trade preferences for Belarus] is not Clinton's decision, but it's those rambling guys [the opposition] who hang around all those palaces, residences... They will never be in power here, not because I do not want it, but because they will never be elected by the people, because they are incapable of anything but making a fuss, or taking handouts from the West.
Belarusian TV, July 2000

There will be no Kostunica [head of the Yugoslav anti-Milosevic opposition] in Belarus. No way! This must be clear to you and to all those who count on it... People know I will protect myself, I will not sit in a bunker like Milosevic. I am not afraid of anybody, I have stolen nothing from my people and I will protect myself.
Belarusian television, July 2001

They defended swindlers and rogues. Western envoys rushed to Belarus, bringing in equipment and money. The aim was to undermine the situation, to split society, to sow hatred on religious, ethnic or ideological grounds, and finally to destroy our state sovereignty. These are all techniques of controlled crises, the scenarios of which are worked out by Western special services, while the opposition is a bargaining chip in their plans.
Belarusian radio, September 2001

Tell me, in what way have we not pleased our neighbour Poland?... The Americans have started exerting pressure through Poland. Just look: where have hi-tech devices to monitor Belarusian territory been installed? In Poland... From whose territory is our country being showered with untrue information? From Poland... Poland has become a bridgehead from which the invasion of the former Soviet Union advances.
Belarusian radio, September 2001

I am confident that the Europeans will come crawling to Belarus to ask for co-operation in the fight against drugs trafficking and illegal migration. Because this is their most sensitive issue at the moment. So they cannot do without our co-operation or our support. Another thing, unless they pay we shall not defend Europe from these flows of migrants. They created this problem in Afghanistan.
Belarusian television, November 2002

Pressure is currently being put on Belarus through weapons of mass destruction, there is no other name for them, that is, the mass media. The mass media are weapons of mass destruction today, the most powerful ones.
Belarusian television, June 2003

They tell me: you are a dictator. Am I a dictator? My position and the state will never allow me to become a dictator... But an authoritarian ruling style is characteristic of me, and I have always admitted it. Why? We could spend hours talking about this. You need to control the country, and the main thing is not to ruin people's lives.
Belarusian radio, August 2003

I have warned the opposition: if you take the situation in the country to the point of absurdity and create conditions for instability and uncontrollability, this will be the first reason for me to urgently start looking for ways to extend my presidential tenure.
Belarusian radio, August 2003

Are you asking me whether I am going to run for a third term? If that is what you are asking, I will tell you right away: I have no right to stand for a third term, unless the people say in a referendum: Yes, we permit Lukashenko to stand again. Our constitution forbids this. A referendum is the only way.
Belarusian radio, August 2003

We cannot accept the insolence of European officials who, along with a handful of oppositionists, want to teach Belarus a lesson for its stubbornness.

Berlin Olympics 1936

Journalists often exaggerate the sporting achievements of negroids in a manner that suggests their superiority over Whites. Racial guilt, political correctness, reverse racism, an opportunity for career advancement; call it what you will, it is evil and sinister. Typical are the distortions woven around the 1936 Berlin Olympics. This international event is usually mentioned as the Olympics at which the American Negro, Jesse Owens, 'humiliated Nazi Germany and destroyed the myth of Aryan superiority.' What are the true facts?

RACIST AMERICA
Jesse Owens, a fine athlete, was an American, a country whose racism would have made a stormtrooper blush. The contrast between the two countries would have been quite remarkable for this humble and likeable ex-cotton picker.

In Hitler's Germany Jesse Owens could share a bus or tram ride with white people. Treated equally before the law he could visit a cinema or church with whites, use public toilets and dine in restaurants, stay in hotels without any discrimination being shown towards him. There was much that he could do in The Third Reich that was forbidden to him back home.

In the United States Negro athletes were required to eat apart from their white fellow athletes. If they were allowed to share the same hotel at all, which was unlikely, it would be necessary for them to use the tradesmen's back entrance.

There were no Negroes on any major league baseball team and no Negro swimmers. This was of course in the so-called enlightened north. In the southern states there was no possibility of a Negro being allowed to participate in any sport unless he competed solely with other Negroes.

OWENS IDOLISED IN NAZI GERMANY
For Jesse Owens his days in Hitler's Germany must have been happy indeed. There he received a great deal of pre-Olympic media hype and the German people idolised him. "Once at the stadium, the mere appearance of Jesse Owens neatly moulded head from some pit below the stands would cause sections of the crowd to break out in chants of, 'Yes-sa Ov-enss! Yes-sa Ov-enss!' - Richard D. Mandell. The Nazi Olympics

"Some mornings at the Olympic village the athletic hero of the hour was awakened by amateur photographers who flocked outside his bedroom window to click at the athlete before he could gather poise for one of his many appearances before the mobs in Berlin." - Richard D. Mandell. The Nazi Olympics

"Jesse Owens was cheered as loudly as any Aryan."- Lawrence N. Snyder; Jesse's coach. Saturday Evening Post. Nov,7th, 1936.

THE HITLER SNUB MYTH
One of many common myths invented and re-cycled by British journalists is that at the 'Nazi Olympics', the German leader snubbed Jesse Owens by refusing to shake his hand. The reality is far different. Hitler on the first day of the Berlin Olympics did indeed shake the hands of several successful competitors from Germany and Finland. It was a mistake made in good faith. That evening the German Chancellor received a message from Count Baillet-Latour, President of the International Olympic Committee. It was respectfully pointed out to the German Leader that as he was merely a guest of honour at the Games, he should congratulate all - or none, in public at least. Adolf Hitler, in common with all other national leaders chose the latter as being the most sensible course. With 156 gold medals being awarded at various locations and times, it was not physically possible to congratulate every winner. Jesse Owens was not personally congratulated by Adolf Hitler; nor were any of the other successful competitors, white or otherwise .... at the request of the President of the I.O.C.

REJECTED BY HIS OWN PRESIDENT
It is interesting to note however that Jesse Owens own President Roosevelt refused to honour or even meet him despite there being no such protocol restriction imposed upon him. But afterwards, Jesse Owens said of Adolf Hitler : "When I passed the Chancellor he arose, waved his hand at me, and I waved back at him. I think the writers showed bad taste in criticising the man of the hour in Germany."

OWENS IN RACIST RIP-OFF ENGLAND
Afterwards, Owens and his coach, Larry Snyder on arrival in London complained that they felt like 'trained seals'. They were subjected to a barrage of 'fraudulent publicity offers', so much so that they refused further engagements. Time proved Larry Snyder and Jesse Owens right. None of the offers came to anything but big name Jewish promoters like Eddy Cantor had received a great deal of favourable publicity.

TREATED LIKE A FREAK IN USA
Back home in the United States, Jesse Owens was treated like a freak and an animal. "Before curious crowds he raced horses (and won). He ran against cars, trucks, dogs, and baseball players with a head start." Norman Katkov. Jesse Owens Revisited. The World of Sport, p.289.
His was a thirties America that had seen 26 lynchings - all Negroes; an America where Negroes had to use separate public toilets and public transport; went to all-black schools, and couldn't mix with white people in restaurants, cinemas, hotels, church, stadiums, etc. Hitler's Germany and the German people must have seemed very welcoming by contrast.

WHITE GERMANY 101 MEDALS MIXED RACE U.S.A 49
With a population three times as big as Germany’s Hitler's Germany won a total of 101 medals (41 gold) and 223 points. Their only credible rival was the United States which though three times more populous won 40% fewer medals and points: 25 gold medals (4 to Jesse Owens) and just 132 points. The U.S.A's size and its reliance on coloured athletes added to its humiliation which in fact justified Hitler's claim of Aryan superiority in the field of sport - which it still enjoys.

INCONVENIENT HISTORY
Hitler's Germany won more gold medals than the United States, Great Britain, India, Canada, Argentina, France, and Norway together whose combined population was 14 times larger than Germany's.

The Soldiers Story

With Veterans Day behind us and Armistice Day just sixteen weeks away it’s as well to expose humbug at its most hypocritical; a moment to reflect on the words of British servicemen expressed during World War Two.

Today, seventy-years after the outbreak of Churchill’s War the media still falsely portray these men as square jawed heroes eager to get to grips with Fascism. Martin Page who has compiled material of the period and says; “The fact is that most of the men in the war hated almost every moment of it, and for much of the time were thoroughly scared. Nobody in their senses wants to be the man whose life is sacrificed for the cause. “Why have we gone along with such a false and sentimental picture of them? Perhaps because we should prefer not to contemplate the fact that many of those who bravely risked and lost their lives begrudged having to do so, to say the least and were far from convinced that the rest of us, on whose behalf they did so, were worth it.”

WHAT OUR LADS WERE REALLY SINGING BELISHA’S ARMY
At the outbreak of war Hore Belisha was Britain’s Jewish Secretary of State for War

We had to join, we had to join,
We had to join Belisha’s Army.
Fourteen bob a week
Fuck-all to eat,
Marching round the square
With bloody great blisters on our feet.
We had to join, we had to join,
We had to join Belisha’s Army.
If it wasn’t for the war,
We’d have fucked off long before,
Hore Belisha - you’re barmy

If that was the case back in 1939 when for all of its faults England was still England. It was before it had been colonised and Englishmen and women gagged, restrained by political correctness, then placed in reservation-like sink estates, imagine how servicemen serving in today’s theatres of war feel?

A WAR CORRESPONDENT WRITES
The war correspondent Alan Morehead recalls visiting troops in the trenches. There were several old newspapers lying around. One, the Daily Mirror, had its last page turned upwards and its massive headline read: ‘No More Wars After This, say Eden.’“Seeing me look at it, the soldier at the end of the trench said bitterly: ‘They said the last war was the war that ended all wars. I reckon this war is supposed to start them all off again.’Many a true word said in (bitter) jest.

There have been over forty conflicts since that soldier uttered those fateful words. Morehead went on to say: “They hated the war . . . They fought because they were part of a system. It was something they were obliged to do. They wanted to win and get out of it - the sooner the better.

They had no notions of glory.“A great number of people at home who referred emotionally to ‘Our boys’ would have been shocked and horrified if they had known just how the boys were thinking and behaving. “They would regard them as young hooligans. And this because the real degrading nature of war was not understood by the public at home, and it can never be understood by anyone who has not spent months in the trenches or in the air or at sea.”

I DON’T WANT TO BE A SOLDIER
I don’t want to be a soldier,
I don’t want to go to war.
I’d sooner hang around Piccadilly underground
Living on the earnings of a high-born lady.
Don’t want a bullet up my arsehole,
Don’t want my bollocks shot away,
I’d rather live in England,
In merry, merry England
And fornicate my fucking life away.

Martin Page recalled receiving a letter from a serviceman who wrote: “I served in several theatres of war - France, Western Desert, (I am an ex-Desert Rat), Italy and Germany.“After my Army service, I got married and now lead a pretty staid life with my wife and three children, and often wondered was it worth it?“I live in a slum and I am ashamed of it but cannot do anything about it, as I am just a poor disabled working man. Perhaps you can understand how bitter I feel, to think that after I and thousands of other men fought for this country, we came back here to live like this.”

Sadly the old soldier missed the point. When Germany was defeated it was the rich, the politicians, the establishment that looted what he and his mates had conquered: and for what? Who are his neighbours now? Germans? No, they are Somalis, Afghans, Pakistanis: he is culturally enriched?

Canadian Reuter’s correspondent Charles Lynch accredited to the British Army was refreshingly candid: “It’s humiliating to look back at what we wrote during the war. It was crap, and I don’t exclude the Ernie Pyles or the Alan Moreheads. We were a propaganda arm of our governments. At the start the censors enforced that but at the end we were our own censors. We were cheerleaders. I suppose there wasn’t an alternative at the time. It was total war, but, for God’s sake, let’s not glorify our role. It wasn’t good journalism. It wasn’t journalism at all.”

Treatment of German POW's

“War crime trials for allied soldiers a possibility.” Says analyst “British and allied troops appearing as defendants in war crimes trials with brutal Serbs and former Red Army thugs is a distinct possibility”, says Second World War analyst, Michael Walsh. His research exposes allied enslavement and ill-treatment of axis prisoners-of-war. He says, “the scale of abuse of Prisoners of War was contrary to the Geneva and other conventions to which Britain and its allies were signatories. As late as 1948, three years after the war’s end, the British Government’s treatment of its foreign prisoners was subject to International Red Cross condemnation.

The IRC threatened to bring the British government before international tribunals for abuse and illegal enslavement. Typically, British POW camps were worse than Belsen even after the war had ended and war disruption ceased. Associated Press Photographer, Henry Griffin who had taken the pictures of corpses in Buchenwald and Dachau when visiting Allied POW camps said: "The only difference I can see between these men and those corpses is that here they are still breathing." Ralph F. Keeling, Institute of American Economics added: "According to revelations by members of the House of Commons, 130,000 former German officers and men were held during the winter of 1945-46 in British camps in Belgium under conditions which British officers have described as 'not much better than Belsen.'

TORTURE AND BRUTALITY
Adding to international outrage, Cyril Connolly, one of England’s most acclaimed writers "British guards imprisoned German troops and tortured them” . He described how “they were so possessed by propaganda about German 'Huns' that they obviously enjoyed demonstrating their atrocities to visiting journalists.

A British reporter named Moorehead present at these ‘torture fests’ observed that 'a young British medical officer and a captain of engineers managed the Bergen-Belsen camp. “The captain was in the best of moods,” he said. “When we approached the cells of gaoled guards, the sergeant lost his temper.” The captain explained. 'This morning we had an interrogation. I'm afraid the prisoners don't look exactly nice.'The cells were opened for the visiting journalists. “The German prisoners lay there, crumpled, moaning, covered with gore. The man next to me made vain attempts to get to his feet and finally managed to stand up. He stood there trembling, and tried to stretch out his arms as if fending off blows. "Up!" yelled the sergeant. "Come off the wall."“They pushed themselves off from the wall and stood there, swaying. In another cell the medical officer had just finished an interrogation. "Up." yelled the officer. "Get up." The man lay in his blood on the floor. He propped two arms on a chair and tried to pull himself up. A second demand and he succeeded in getting to his feet. He stretched his arms towards us. "Why don't you kill me off?" he moaned."The dirty bastard is jabbering this all morning." the sergeant stated.

UNDERFED AND BEATEN ADMITS TOP AMERICAN NEWSPAPER
"The prisoners lived through the winter in tents and slept on the bare ground under one blanket each. They say they are underfed and beaten and kicked by guards. Many have no underclothes or boots." reported the Chicago Tribune Press Service on 19 May 1946 one year after the war’s end."In the summer of 1946 an increasing number of prisoners of-war were escaping from British slave camps with British civilian aid. “Accounts of the chases by military police are reminiscent of pre-Civil War pursuits by fleeing Negro fugitives." Revealed an Associated Press dispatch. London, August, 27th, 1946 more than sixteen months after the war ended.

CIVILIANS; WOMEN AND CHILDREN MACHINE-GUNNED
Refugees were treated even worse in British controlled Austria and Yugoslavia. There the concentration camps were run jointly by Britain and the NKVD, forerunners to the dreaded KGB. One British officer described how "The prisoners (civilians) were treated coarsely but not brutally. They were pushed and shoved, but there was no resistance, no fighting or trying to get back or get away. They were all completely docile, resigned to their fate. The soldiers collected them all quickly into groups and marched them away to be machine-gunned in groups.' The British officer added, 'Some of them didn't get very far I'm afraid. At the back of the station there was a wood, a copse, and they seemed to be marched behind this copse. Shortly afterwards there were quite a number of sustained bursts of machine-gun fire. I can't say for certain what happened, because I couldn't see the shooting. But I am pretty sure that a lot of them were shot there and then, not on the siding itself but just around the corner of the wood." This is typical of many accounts when units of the British Army working with Red Army NKVD officers, hunted down and butchered tens of thousands of Cossack civilian refugees in Austria, in summer, 1945 after the war had ended.

A BLOOD-SPATTERED BRITISH TRANSPORT TRAIN
Tens of thousands of people, mostly civilians of many nationalities were hunted down and rounded up like cattle being taken to the Red Army’s abbatoirs. One account described how ‘the whole train was bespattered with blood. They were open-plan carriages, and I remember the bloodstains where bodies had been dragged right down the corridor between the seats and down three of four steps. The lavatories were absolutely covered in blood...." "Another such patrol, consisting of two Red Army officers and four British soldiers set off into the hills on horseback on June,8th. They captured one such group on the lower slopes.... "The Cossacks ran off, leaving just a few, mainly women and children who were too weak to move. One soldier spotted a Cossack in the distance, aimed his rifle at him, fired and saw him drop. .... as he was not seen to rise again it was assumed he had been killed."

Captain Duncan McMillan remembers, 'Being guided to a small railway station where there was a barbed-wire enclosure' He saw the Cossacks being unloaded from the trucks and described how they were stripped of their possessions, even food before being marched away. 'Many British soldiers who were there have testified that they heard the rattle of machine-guns nearby just moments after the prisoners were removed." James Davidson said: "We thought that machine-gunning must be the finish of them. We thought they were just taken back there and slaughtered." These awful accounts were described in Nicholas Bethell’s book, The Last Secret published by Futura in 1974. Further accounts were suppressed by the English legal apparatus.

SLAVE LABOUR IN THE CENTURY
In August 1946 15 months after the end of the Second world War, Britain according to the International Red Cross “Britain had 460,000 German prisoners slaving for her." This was in direct contravention of the Geneva Convention (Enslavement of Prisoners-of-War is a violation of the Geneva Convention. Article.75) which Britain was a signatory to Great Britain. Arthur Veysey of the Chicago Tribune Press Service on May 28th 1946 reported "... when they (German POWs) learned upon arrival in British and French ports that they were to be worked indefinitely as slaves, they became sullen."

PROFITING FROM GERMAN SLAVES
Arthur Veysey appalled by the the British government’s abuse of human rights and the illegality of its evil slave-ownership policies and defiance of the Geneva Convention said, "The British Government nets over $250,000,000 annually from its slaves. The Government, which frankly calls itself the 'owner' of the prisoners, hires the men out to any employer needing men, charging the going rate for such work - usually $15 to $20 a week. It pays the slaves from 10 to 20 cents a day. The prisoners are never paid in cash, but are given credits either in the form of vouchers or credits."

THE SOVIET UNION FOLLOWS BRITAIN’S SLAVE EMPIRE EXAMPLE
When attempts were made to prevent Stalin from abducting five million German prisoners, many of them civilians including children, as slave labourers, the Soviets pointed out that Britain was using slaves too. Eyewitness accounts describe events when Berlin and Breslau surrendered. “The long grey-green columns of prisoners were marched east downcast and fearful towards huge depots near Leningrad, Moscow, Minsk, Stalingrad, Kiev, Kharkov and Sevastopol. All fit men had to march 22 miles a day. Those physically handicapped went in handcarts or carts pulled by spare beasts." This was reported in the Congressional Record on March 29th 1946.

STARVATION OF POWS IN FRANCE
In the notorious camp in the Sarthe District for 20,000 prisoners, inmates received just 900 calories a day; thus 12 died every day in the hospital. Four to five thousand are unable to work any more. Recently trains with new prisoners arrived at the camp; several prisoners had died during the trip, several others had tried to stay alive by eating coal that had been lying in the freight train by which they came.

UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
In the USA where 140,000 prisoners-of-war were shipped, the Catholic Bishops Conference described how, “Multitudes of civilians and prisoners of war have been deported and degraded into forced labor unworthy of human beings.”"Hundreds of thousands, if not millions, are put like slaves to forced labor, although the only thing with which they can be reproached is the fact that they were soldiers. Many of these poor fellows are without news from home and have not been allowed to send a sign of life to their dear ones."

AN EVIL PRECEDENT
An outraged International Red Cross organisation opined: "The United States, Britain and France, nearly a year after peace are violating International Red Cross agreements they solemnly signed in 1929. Although thousands of the former German soldiers are being used in the hazardous work of clearing mine-fields, sweeping sea mines and razing shattered buildings, the Geneva Convention expressly forbids employing prisoners 'in any dangerous labour or in the transport of any material used in warfare.' Henry Wales in Geneva, Switzerland on April 13, 1946 added, 'The bartering of captured enemy soldiers by the victors throws the world back to the dark ages when feudal barons raided adjoining duchies to replenish their human live stock. It is an iniquitous system and an evil precedent because it is wide open for abuses with difficulty in establishing responsibility. It is manifestly unjust and sell them for political reasons as the African Negroes were a century ago."

GERMAN TREATMENT OF POWs FAR MORE HUMANE
By contrast the German armed forces behaved impeccably towards their prisoners-of-war. "The most amazing thing about the atrocities in this war is that there have been so few of them. I have come up against few instances where the Germans have not treated prisoners according to the rules, and respected the Red Cross reported respected newpaper The Progressive February, 4th,1945. Allan Wood, London Correspondent of the London Express agreed. "The Germans even in their greatest moments of despair obeyed the Convention in most respects. True it is that there were front line atrocities - passions run high up there - but they were incidents, not practices, and maladministration of their American prison camps was very uncommon." His words were echoed by Lieutenant Newton L. Marguiles. U.S Assistant Judge Advocate, Jefferson Barracks, April, 27th,1945. "It is true that the Reich exacted forced labour from foreign workers, but it is also true that, they were for the most part paid and fed well." "I think some of the persons found themselves better off than at any time in their lives before." added Dr.James K.Pollack, Allied Military Government. "What did the Germans do to get efficient production from forced labour that we were not able to do with Germans working down the mines? They fed their help and fed them well." Said Max H. Forester, Chief of AMG's Coal and Mining Division in July 1946.
